Ruchira Kamboj, who is the permanent representative of India at the UN, shared insights into India's development journey during the United Nations Development Programme's high-level policy dialogue for the Asia-Pacific. Emphasising India's commitment to inclusive progress, Kamboj highlighted the nation's determination to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Target 1.2, focused on halving multidimensional poverty, well before the 2030 deadline.

In her address, Kamboj underscored India's significant emphasis on women-led development initiatives. Speaking on the success of the Unique Identification (Aadhaar) initiative and the Department of Public Information's achievements, she conveyed India's dedication to fostering development with the collective support of all stakeholders.

Meanwhile, on January 10, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared India's vision for the future at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 in Gandhinagar. Expressing the aspiration to transform India into a developed country by its 100th year of independence, PM Modi declared the ongoing 25-year period as India's "Amrit Kaal," or golden era.

PM Modi attributed India's impressive economic resilience and growth rates to a decade-long focus on structural reforms. He highlighted India's current status as the fifth-largest global economy, with projections placing it among the top three in the years to come. Despite global challenges, PM Modi affirmed that India's economic strength and momentum were a direct result of strategic reforms that bolstered the nation's capacity, capability, and competitiveness.
