BluSmart, an electric mobility ride-hailing service, has entered into a multi-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) to procure green power. As part of the agreement, TPTCL will source 30 MW of capacity from Tata Power's 200 MW solar PV power plant in Rajasthan's Bikaner district.

In a statement, BluSmart highlighted that, under the recently enacted green energy open access rules, this collaboration eliminates Scope 2 emissions from their existing 1.4 million-square-foot EV charging infrastructure and future charging hubs.

By making this move, BluSmart asserts itself as the first mobility player in India to transition from zero tailpipe emissions to a completely emissions-free company.

According to executives at the company, BluSmart has already covered 0.4 billion electric kilometres since its launch. The company asserts that the journey to 1 billion electric kilometres will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy.

TPTCL CEO Tarun Katiyar affirmed his commitment to supporting various industries in achieving their renewable energy goals through sustainable, innovative, and affordable energy solutions.

BluSmart, with a fleet of nearly 6,000 electric vehicles and 4,000 EV chargers across 35 charging hubs in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, takes a significant step towards a sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
