Volvo India aims for 50 percent of its vehicles to be powered by non-fossil fuels by 2030, according to a senior company official speaking at the Digital Acceleration and Transformation Expo.

Kamal Bali, Volvo Group President and Managing Director in India, outlined the company's goal to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

"At Volvo, we have set a target that by 2030, 50 percent of our vehicles will be non-fossil fuel-based. They will be non-polluting. The remaining 50 percent will become non-zero emissions by 2040," Bali stated.

Highlighting the environmental impact of the transport industry, Bali noted that it accounts for 20 percent of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions. He emphasised the potential for significant positive change if automobile companies commit to reducing emissions.

We have also taken a pledge that 35 percent of all employees at leadership levels and other levels will be women. We see this as part of sustainability.
