Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav joined the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign by planting saplings in Indore, aiming to tackle soaring temperatures and transform the city into a model green city.

Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav Leads Campaign to Increase Green Cover in Indore" Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav on Sunday stressed the need to increase green cover to deal with soaring temperatures during summer even as he joined the ongoing campaign to plant 51 lakh saplings in Indore.

This year, the planet has witnessed an alarming rise in temperatures, nearly breaching the 1.5-degree danger mark. In India, temperatures in several cities have sizzled to record highs of up to 50 degrees Celsius even as the fast-growing economy transforms vast green landscapes into concrete jungles," he lamented.

The "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, launched under th stewardship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, is a call for each one of us to respect and protect Mother Earth.

Yadav planted a sapling at a programme organised at the Border Security Force (BSF) campus in the Bijasan area under the campaign "Apne Indore Ke Liye, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam." Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya were present on the occasion.

The chief minister said there is a plan to plant 5.50 crore saplings in the state, with 51 lakh in Indore alone.

"Indore has set a benchmark for cleanliness in the country, ranking number one. Let's now strive to make it a model for green cities as well," he said.
