TVS Motor Company announced the extension of its collaboration with the Singapore-based tech startup ION Mobility to venture into the sports scooter segment in Indonesia.

This entry into the market is to be made under "Project Dynamo," which is ION Mobility's conceptual adaptation of TVS Motor's premium flagship crossover electric two-wheeler, the TVS X. The collaboration under Project Dynamo, which commenced in February 2023, has been further strengthened. TVS Motor played a key role in ION Mobility's Series A funding, providing USD 18.7 million as a strategic investor.

TVS Motor stated, "After successfully introducing its M1-S electric motorcycle, ION Mobility will enter the sports scooter market segment by unveiling Project Dynamo at the Indonesia Motorcycle Show," which kicks off during the five-day Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) in Jakarta.

Project Dynamo aims to cater to the preferences of Indonesian riders who prioritize performance and speed, all while enhancing the advantages of efficient and environmentally friendly electric vehicles.

Sharad Mohan Mishra, President, Group Strategy at TVS Motor Company, expressed their enthusiasm, saying, "We are thrilled to solidify our partnership with ION Mobility to drive premium electric two-wheeler growth in Indonesia with the showcase of Project Dynamo at the IMOS."

ION Mobility focuses on developing electric motorcycles and related technologies and services with the goal of accelerating the transition of motorcycle riders in Indonesia and Southeast Asia from petrol to electric vehicles.

On the other hand, TVS Motor plays a significant role in facilitating the rapid adoption of electric mobility and the overall development of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Both companies anticipate leveraging their respective design, engineering, and production capabilities to create innovative electric vehicles that cater to the needs of the Indonesian market and beyond.

James Chan, the founder and CEO of ION Mobility, stated, "We are committed to elevating the ION brand into the top lifestyle brand for electric motorcycles in Indonesia and believe that the co-creation that comes from both of our teams' combined efforts will absolutely delight Indonesian motorcyclists in the months and years ahead."

Under Project Dynamo, ION Mobility's electric motorcycle products will continue to be thoughtfully designed, taking into account the Indonesian motorcyclist's preferences, and will feature distinctive characteristics that define the brand.
