TVS Motor announces the launch of India's first electric two-wheeler racing championship. This initiative makes TVS the first Indian manufacturer to foray into EV moto racing.

“Unveiled by our Managing Director, Sudarshan Venu, the #ApacheRTE is here to transform mobility and Indian Motorcycle Racing through innovative and sustainable solutions for a cleaner future. Stay tuned for high-octane and thrilling racing experiences - this time with electric race machines,” TVS Racing announced on X.

With Eight riders, the race will take place on 29th Sept 2023 at the 4th round of the Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC). TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) is an exclusive format for racing on the electric TVS Apache RTE (Racing Throttle Electric) race motorcycles that have been developed solely for the championship.

Sudarshan Venu, managing director, TVS Motor said, “TVS Motor has been championing racing ever since we started India’s first factory racing team. TVS Racing has been instrumental in making motorsports aspirational yet accessible for enthusiasts across the country."

Underlining the company’s achievements in the segment, Vimal Sumbly, head, Business - Premium, TVS Motor, said, "We have been the frontrunners in the segment, whether it was pioneering the TVS OMC in India in 1994, and expanding it in women’s and rookie class, or being the first Indian manufacturer to foray with the Asia One Make Championship or participate in the Dakar Rally. With the TVS Racing e-OMC, we take a monumental step into redefining the future of racing."

TVS Racing was established in 1987 aiming to improve the performance of its bikes. Over the years, it provided design inputs, development of reliable motorcycle models, vehicle dynamics and handling. Starting with 50cc Mopeds, racing takes place on 450cc Beasts at present.

It has participated in a number of motorsports including rallies in Dakar, Desert Storm, India Baja, Rally of Morocco and many national championships.
