Toshiba's SCiB™ rechargeable battery uses safe lithium titanium oxide (LTO) in its anode to achieve a long life, low-temperature performance, rapid charging, high input and output power, and a large effective capacity. Toshiba's SCiB™ rechargeable battery offers excellent safety, long life and high performance for a very wide range of applications: from small-scale (KW) stationary storage for telecom towers, self-sustaining solar cameras for security, and residential and community energy storage, to use in automobiles, buses, railroad cars, elevators, power plants, and large-scale storage (MW scale) for power grids, smart grids, and solar power. All of this comes together to create a sustainable society.
Toshiba has allied with Suzuki Motor Corporation and Denso Corporation to jointly establish a lithium-ion battery cell and pack company in India. The battery plant is housed at the Suzuki Motor Gujarat campus. This joint venture is India’s first lithium-ion cell manufacturing company and will contribute immensely to the government’s “Make in India” and “Clean India” initiatives.
