3BL has just published its annual list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens. This list highlights the top ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performers among the 1,000 largest public companies in the United States. Hewlett Packard Enterprise secured the first position on the list, with Accenture, HP Inc., Hasbro, and Estée Lauder following closely to complete the top five.

The rankings are based on 184 ESG metrics covering climate change, employee relations, and governance. They only consider data from public sources and do not consider company submissions or questionnaires. This year's ranking data was collected between July 2022 and July 2023.

To ensure that companies' climate lobbying aligns with the Paris Climate Agreement, a new partnership with InfluenceMap has been established. Companies that lobby against the agreement receive a "red flag" penalty, while those that support it are awarded a "green flag" bonus. Adobe, Inc. received the latter accolade this year and stood out from the rest.

Dave Armon, 3BL's CEO, emphasised US companies' crucial role in addressing societal issues, lauding the listed firms for their leadership and commitment to transparency in ESG matters.
