Indian Railways is promoting the marketing of millet-based products to stimulate domestic and international demand and give passengers nourishing diets.

The selling of millet goods has started at the three railway stations in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Begumpet under the "One Station, One Product" (OSOP) model. The programme allocates OSOP stores at railway stations for showing, marketing, and promoting indigenous and local products.

While M for Millets, a microbusiness, operates the OSOP kiosk at Begumpet station Platform No. 2 and sells millet chikkis, Nine Nutz, a mini startup, operates an OSOP stall at Secunderabad Station Platform 10 and sells millet-based sweets and snacks.

According to a press release, a micro-startup called Ancient Foods operates an OSOP stall at the Hyderabad station that sells millet-based breakfast mixtures and snacks.

Millets have long been a staple of our diets, and in addition to their many health advantages, millets are also climate-resilient crops. They are hardy and require little water to grow. At the request of the Indian government, the United Nations proclaimed 2023 to be the International Year of Millets with the goal of raising awareness and increasing millets' production and consumption.
