In a ground-breaking move towards sustainability, PSA Mumbai container terminal has partnered with O2 Power to commission a 7.8 MW solar farm, marking India's first fully renewable-powered container terminal. The terminal is steadfast in its goal to slash carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

A pivotal project in this initiative involves the large-scale electrification of the equipment fleet, featuring an all-electric Rubber-Tyred Gantry Crane (RTGC) fleet for the Phase 2 development. The electrification process of existing RTGCs in the first phase has commenced, with completion anticipated by 2027.

Adding to the green commitment, PSA BDP's forthcoming e-truck launch in early 2024 is set to introduce a zero-emission green transport corridor in Nhava Sheva, linking ports, Container Freight Stations (CFS), and customer facilities.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the milestone, PSA Mumbai CEO Andy Lane stated, "Commissioning our solar farm and achieving a switch to 100 percent renewable power is a significant milestone in emission reduction.

We recognise the demand for greener transportation solutions, and initiatives like the upcoming e-truck launch underscore our commitment to meeting emission reduction targets in our supply chain." This move positions PSA Mumbai at the forefront of sustainable and environmentally conscious operations in the container terminal industry.
