The IndiaSkills Competition 2024, India's largest skill competition, began today at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka. The four-day event will host over 900 students from 30+ states and Union Territories competing in 61 skills, both traditional and technology-focused.

Participants, trained in various institutions, will showcase their skills in hopes of representing India at the WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France. This platform not only empowers skilled youth but also fosters innovation and economic growth, contributing to India's sustainable development goals.

Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, emphasised the event's significance: "The IndiaSkills Competition opens new avenues of opportunity for the skilled youth, empowering them to dream beyond conventional boundaries and showcase their skills on the global stage." He highlighted the alignment with the SDGs, stating, "This competition is a testament to our commitment to quality education, decent work, and fostering innovation for a sustainable future."

The competition will award credits within the National Credit Framework, aligning with the National Skills Qualification Framework. This year, IndiaSkills introduces a competition information system called Qrencia.

Over 2.5 lakh candidates initially registered, with 900+ shortlisted for the national competition through a rigorous selection process. The event is supported by over 400 industry and academic partners, showcasing a collaborative effort to promote skills development and sustainable growth.
