The Indian pavilion at the ongoing (May 13-15) 2024 World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, Netherlands, among the largest at the event, showcases the country's remarkable progress in the green hydrogen space and facilitates stakeholder engagement. The pavilion was put up by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

In January 2023, India launched its National Green Hydrogen Mission with a purse of Rs 19,744 crore, aiming to achieve a green hydrogen production capacity of 5 million tonnes by the end of 2030. Additionally, scheme guidelines have been notified for utilising green hydrogen in critical sectors such as steel, transportation, and shipping.

Furthermore, the Department of Science and Technology has initiated Hydrogen Valley Innovation Clusters to foster innovation and promote the Green Hydrogen ecosystem in India.

Union Power Minister RK Singh recently highlighted that approximately 44 percent of India's energy needs are currently met by non-fossil sources. This is projected to surge to around 65 percent by 2030, surpassing the commitments made by the country at the COP summit in 2021.
