Despite the ravages of the COVID pandemic, unprecedented geopolitical challenges and disruptive conflicts, the Indian economy has scaled new highs with extraordinary resilience, said Ruchira Kamboj, the country's permanent UN representative. She was describing the nation's recent development record at the high-level policy dialogue for the Asia-Pacific of the UNDP.

India's ascent from the 11th largest economy a decade ago to the fifth is a testament to its commitment to progress. This journey, led by PM Narendra Modi, has been marked by sweeping structural reforms across its economic landscape. Ruchira Kamboj, India's permanent UN representative, reaffirmed that the nation is resolutely on course to becoming the world's third largest economy, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) target 1.2, and halving multidimensional poverty before 2030 through its women- and equity-led development drive.

Her address resonated with the words of Prime Minister Modi at the latest Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar, where he talked about turning India into a developed economy ahead of its 100th anniversary as an independent nation.
