According to a yearly report by the advocacy group Transport & Environment, Indian corporations have not established goals to lower corporate travel emissions. Just 50 out of 322 businesses worldwide have goals in place to cut back on business travel, with Indian IT services provider Wipro leading the way. Between 2015 and 2020, Wipro reduced its emissions related to air travel by 15-20% and has a score of 10. The 10 Indian organisations that feature on the ranking are Wipro, Tech Mahindra, State Bank of India, HDFC, Tata Consultancy, Mindtree, Adani Green Energy, Larsen & Toubro, HCL Tech and Infosys. The only tech company that reports its air travel emissions is Tech Mahindra. It reported its air travel emissions to be 11,978 tCO2 in 2019.

Only four companies Novo Nordisk (pharmaceuticals, Denmark), Swiss Re (finance, Switzerland), Fidelity International (finance, Britain) and ABN Amro (finance, the Netherlands), meet the gold standard of reporting air travel emissions and commitment to reducing them by 50 percent or more.

Report aside, Indian airlines have also been trying their hand at sustainability. IndiGo became a signatory to the World Economic Forum's Clean Skies for Future. IndiGo has been trying to implement sustainable measures that would enable sustainable air fuel (SAF) to scale significantly, and become cost-effective enough to be adopted widely in India. On 18 Feb 2022, IndiGo operated its A320 NEO flight from Toulouse, France to New Delhi with 10% blend of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) under its Green initiative. Last year, Air India, AirAsia India, and Vistara signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) to collaborate on the research and development of SAF.

Moving to the hospitality industry, WelcomHeritage Hotels, an Indian chain of historic hotels, and the electric vehicle company SunFuel Electric have come together to construct charging stations throughout. The charging station is currently open at WelcomHeritage Parv Vilas Resort & Spa in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, where visitors can arrive in their electric cars.

Sustainability is at the heart of Noida International Airport, in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar which is expected to be ready by 2024. Built with the idea of consuming less energy, the Noida International Airport will be India's first net-zero emissions airport. Natural ventilation and lighting are some of the ways through which the airport is going to move towards sustainability.
