On the first day of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) meeting in Goa, a top Central government official told delegates from other countries that India has presented an ambitious agenda for the DWG that aspires to deliver inclusive and sustainable development.

The three-day gathering will feature more than 80 representatives from member nations, nine invited nations, and other international and regional organisations.

Nagaraj K. Naidu and Eenam Gambhir, joint secretaries for India's ministry of external affairs, served as the meeting's co-chairs.

"India has put forth an ambitious agenda for the DWG that aims to bring inclusive and sustainable development and accelerating achievement of the SDGs to the forefront," Secretary (Economic Relations) of the Ministry of External Affairs, Dammu Ravi, told the delegates in a video address.

According to Ravi, the High-Level Principles (HLPs) for Data for Development, HLPs for LiFE, and Action Plan on Accelerating Progress on the SDGs, among other outcome documents put forth by India, will directly influence the Green Development Pact, a document at the leaders' level that will be adopted at the Leaders' Summit in September.

He asked all delegations to assist the DWG in its efforts to produce documents by agreement.

A senior official had stated the Goa meeting would set up development outcomes that would be discussed in the final ministerial meeting planned for Varanasi the day before.

In order to finalise the language of the result agreements that reflect the strong collective will of the G20 to work together on the development agenda, officials said on Tuesday that the sessions on "Data for Development" and "HLPs on LiFE" saw extensive and interesting debates and deliberations. They said that during the sessions, significant progress was made towards reaching consensus on a variety of subjects.

Tuesday morning saw the opening of an exhibition exhibiting women-led initiatives in India.

The theme of the exhibition is "ECHO" - The Economy with Safe Climate and Health Leads to Greater Opportunities. In cooperation with the Ministry of External Affairs, the Ministry of Women and Child Development organised it.

The National Institute of Fashion Technology organised the exhibition, which featured goods created, designed, and produced by female entrepreneurs, including handcrafted tea products, ayurvedic goods, millet-based foods, handloom and textile products, and handicrafts.

Serendipity Arts has also organised an art and craft show at the meeting location, which Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant opened. According to authorities, it displayed a variety of rich and diverse craft traditions from around India that have influenced numerous ethnic identities and are being reinvented via creative integration into contemporary designs.
