Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) announced a new programme today to support para-athletes in India. The Samarth Para-Sports Programme, launched in collaboration with the GoSports Foundation, aims to provide comprehensive support to 20 athletes over a three-year period.

This initiative is in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 10: Reduced Inequalities, which promotes empowering and promoting the social, economic and political inclusion of all people, irrespective of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic or other status.

The programme will offer financial aid, expert sports science guidance, assistive devices, soft skill development, and mentorship to the selected athletes. These athletes compete in a variety of sports, including para-athletics, para-swimming, para-badminton, wheelchair tennis, para-archery, para-rowing, para-canoeing, and para-cycling.

"We are committed to fostering a world where each individual can contribute meaningfully," said Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Motor India Limited. "The Samarth Para-Sports Programme will help create a more inclusive society and give these talented athletes the chance to excel on the global stage."

The GoSports Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation with a history of supporting athletes who compete at major international events. Deepthi Bopaiah, CEO of the GoSports Foundation, said, "We are confident that with the right support, we can make India a great sporting nation."

The Samarth Para-Sports Programme is part of Hyundai's broader Samarth by Hyundai initiative, which aims to promote inclusivity for people with disabilities in India.s
