Historic Sanchi Embraces Future As India's First Solar City

In a ground-breaking move towards sustainability, the historic town of Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh, India, famed for its UNESCO World Heritage Site Stupa, has not just embraced but epitomised modernity by transforming it into India's first "Solar City." 

Collaborating with the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Goldi Solar, a leading energy installer, implemented a two-part solution to meet the city's sustainability goals. The initial phase witnessed the installation and commissioning of a 3 MW solar plant, empowered by FIMER's cutting-edge 3 MW PVS980-58 central inverter. 

At the heart of Sanchi's "solar city" initiative, the PVS980-58 inverter ensures unparalleled efficiency, reliability, and optimal solar plant performance. Renowned for its high conversion efficiency, it maximises energy yield from solar panels. At the same time, its patented adaptive cooling technology tackles the challenges of India's climate, which is marked by extreme heat and humidity. 

The completed first stage of the project, concluded in September 2023, is expected to reduce over 14,300 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, marking a substantial leap towards sustainable energy usage. The ongoing second stage, coupled with an additional 8 MW plant under construction as part of the Indian Government's initiative, is poised to generate surplus energy for the city by early 2024. 

Sanchi's evolution into India's first "Solar City" stands as a testament to the fusion of history, culture, and modern sustainability. In tandem with the city's solar initiatives, the UNESCO World Heritage Site exemplifies a harmonious coexistence of the past and the future.
