Focus on green hydrogen is expected to lead to creation of six lakh jobs. Also, 100 trucks and 50 boats would use green hydrogen by 2030, as per NITI Aayog sources.

Talking about the National Green Hydrogen Mission playing a decisive role in promoting green hydrogen usage to realise India’s aspiration to be a zero carbon emitter by 2030, the Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power, RK Singh, said in the Rajya Sabha that It will lead to 5 MMT of carbon dioxide emission avoidance, paving way for renewable and sustainable growth.

The government has allotted Rs 19,000 crore for Strategic Interventions For Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT), which will initiate production of electrolysers of 25 GW  and green hydrogen through financial incentives.

In order to ensure sustainable and green energy usage, skill development programmes, media awareness drives have been initiated towards spreading innovation and knowledge.

For success, a lot of other factors need to be addressed on urgent basis, which include storage, distribution, water supply and proper infrastructure.

Many oil companies in India have acknowledged the challenge of reaching the deadline towards achieving green fuel by 2030. One such move has been made by the Indian Oil group, which has pledged to produce 5GW of green energy by 2030.
