The Adani Group has unveiled an ambitious green investment plan as a part of its Rs 7 lakh crore capital expenditure rollout over the next ten years. In recent posts on X (previously Twitter), the Group Chairman, Gautam Adani, has highlighted various 'green' initiatives across several group verticals, which align with its commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Adani Energy Solutions also confirmed the investment plan in a stock exchange filing, stating that the portfolio aims to invest over Rs 7 lakh crore in the next decade to consolidate its position as the largest infrastructure player in India.

In its efforts to become more environmentally friendly, the company has launched a green initiative for its port business. Adani plans to become the only carbon-neutral port operation in the country by 2025 and achieve net-zero emissions for APSEZ by 2040.

The company aims to achieve this by electrifying all cranes, replacing all diesel-based internal transfer vehicles with battery-based ITVs, and installing an additional 1000 MW of captive renewable capacity. Adani shared this information in a post on X.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone is the largest seaport operator in the country, with ports on both the east and west coasts. The company has launched a new green initiative to become more environmentally friendly. By 2025, Adani aims to be the only carbon-neutral port operation in the country and achieve net-zero emissions for APSEZ by 2040.

The company plans to achieve this by electrifying all cranes, replacing all diesel-based internal transfer vehicles with battery-based ITVs, and installing an additional 1000 MW of captive renewable capacity. In addition, Adani is also expanding its mangrove plantations up to 5000 hectares by FY 25 to reflect its dedication to protecting the environment. This is yet another step towards a greener future and a further testament to their commitment to climate stewardship.

Adani shared pictures of the construction work in the Kutch desert in Gujarat, the site of the "world's largest green energy park". The massive project, covering an area of 726 sq km in the challenging Rann desert, will generate 30GW of electricity to power over 20 million homes. 

Mundra, which is only 150 km away, is home to one of the largest renewable energy manufacturing ecosystems for solar and wind power, which the Adani Group is building. This project is a significant milestone in India's journey towards sustainable energy and highlights the country's commitment to the Solar Alliance and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Adani Group is constructing the world's largest green energy park in the challenging Rann desert in Gujarat. The project is visible even from space and spans across 726 sq km. The group claims that it will generate 30GW of energy to power over 20 million homes.

In addition, the group is creating one of the world's most extensive and integrated renewable energy manufacturing ecosystems for solar and wind in Karmabhoomi Mundra, which is just 150 km away from the project site. This is a significant milestone in India's journey towards sustainable energy and underscores the group's commitment to the Solar Alliance and the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Adani shared pictures of the massive construction work underway in the Kuch desserts in Gujarat.

Adani Total Gas Ltd, a city gas firm owned by Adani Group, is expanding rapidly. It plans to offer services such as CNG, piped natural gas, compressed biogas, and e-mobility. The company provides CNG to vehicles and piped natural gas to households and industries in various cities across India. They are also setting up EV charging stations and building plants to convert agri waste into gas that can be used in city gas operations.

Adani Group has recently expanded its business to include data centres, cement, telecom, and media. In 2019, the company won the operation and management contracts for six airports in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram. The group also holds 73 percent of Mumbai International Airport Ltd, which owns 74 percent of Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd.

According to ASQ, Adani's Mumbai Airport has been ranked the best in Asia Pacific for Services in the 40 million+ passenger category. The airport handled 1,032 flights in a single day on one runway, and it is also leading in sustainability.

The airport operates on 100 percent green energy, making it entirely sustainable. They are also 3rd in Asia Pacific to reach Level 4+ 'Transition' of the ACA Program of ACI, aligning their CO2 management with global climate objectives. The airport aims to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2029.

Adani Electricity, which supplies electricity to Mumbai, is committed to providing 60 percent renewable electricity by 2027 and is currently providing 38 percent of its supply as green energy. During Diwali, they recently achieved a landmark by fueling Mumbai entirely with 100 percent renewable energy.

In the cement business, Ambuja and ACC are leading the sustainable revolution. Over 90 percent of their cement production is blended-cement recycling waste fly ash and slag. It is also committed to powering 60 percent of its cement production with renewable energy sources by 2028.

Adani Group has pledged to plant 100 million trees by 2030. It has already planted 29 million trees and is working towards planting 37 million mangroves on India's coasts and 63 million inland trees.
