The second working group’s meeting on environmental and climate sustainability is beginning today in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Three conclaves will be held in this round, which will go on until March 29.  

The G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group (ECSWG) will talk about topics like slowing down ecosystem deterioration and enhancing biodiversity.

Participants would include representatives from the Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services, the Central Water Commission, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Environment Programme. Representatives from 30 nations, including the United States, Argentina, Brazil, China, France, and Germany, will attend the meeting.

The three-day gathering will also emphasise establishing a sustainable and climate-resilient Blue economy as well as resource efficiency and circular economies. 

The event will also feature special presentations on significant initiatives like Namami Gange, Climate Resilient Infrastructure, Participatory Ground Water Management, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Swachh Bharat Mission.

Discussions will be held on the topic of "Best Practices on Water Resources" on the first day. On March 28, technical seminars would be held on five priority areas: resource efficiency, the circular economy, groundwater management, water sanitation and hygiene, and climate change mitigation.

During the event, a number of organisations affiliated with the ministry of jal shakti will also set up booths on themes like the Atal Bhujal Yojana, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Jeevan Mission, Namame Gange, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, and National Water Mission to share their excellent work with the attendees.
