The awards will be given away in the categories of Sustainable Governance Champion, Corporate Responsibility Champion, Circularity Champion and Climate Action Champion
The Outlook Planet Sustainability Summit & Awards 2024 for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) are scheduled to be presented later tonight in Goa. While the event is being organised by the Outlook Group, IIT Goa is the Knowledge Partner, and BDO India is the Awards Process Advisor.
In a first of its kind, the awards will be given away in the categories of Sustainable Governance Champion, Corporate Responsibility Champion, Circularity Champion and Climate Action Champion.
Shri Indranil Roy, CEO, Outlook Group, said, “This is the first step. We have big plans for 2024-25. We are evolving and evolving with a purpose and an objective.”
A total of 132 profitable CPSEs were assessed on their sustainability performance based on publicly available sustainability reports and initiatives by BDO India.
Ms Suchetana Ray Editor,- Outlook Business and Chief Strategy Officer, Outlook Group, said, “We are excited to launch the first edition of the Outlook Planet Sustainability Summit and Awards 2024. Given the role of central PSUs in India’s transition to a green economy, there couldn’t be a better time to celebrate our public sector champions.”
The final awardees were selected by an eminent jury chaired by Dr Sukumar Devotta, Prof. of Eminence, Anna University and included Prof. B.K. Mishra, Former Director, IIT Goa, and Rtd. Justice U V Bakre, Bombay High Court, as members. The jury was supported by non-voting members Dipankar Ghosh, Partner & Leader, Sustainability & ESG Practice, BDO India and Ms Suchetana Ray, Editor- Outlook Business and Chief Strategy Officer, Outlook Group.
Besides, awards will be also given away in the Editor’s Choice Category to Sustainability Champions, both to companies and individuals.
The event will conclude with Keynote Address by Chief Guest Shri V Srinivas, Secretary, DARPG, Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions. He will be delivering the keynote after Special Address by Dr V. Candavelou, Principal Secretary (Finance), Government of Goa.
Other highlights of the event include a symposium and a panel discussion. The symposium on India's Net Zero Journey: Lessons from CPSEs and Government promoted organisations will be chaired by Dr. Vasundhara Upmanyu, Joint Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises; Parminder Chopra, CMD, Power Finance Corporation; and Shri Santosh Kumar Jha, CMD, Konkan Railway Corporation. The session will be moderated by Ms Suchetana Ray, Editor, Outlook Business.
The panel discussion on Mission LiFE and Management of Scope 3 Emissions will be Chaired by Shri Sundeep Nayak, Former Director General, National Productivity Council and speakers like Prof. B.K. Mishra, Former Director, IIT Goa; Col. Vinit Narayan, Regional Director, NCDC, Maharashtra, Goa and Dadra & Nagar Haveli; Shri Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical, Head- Corporate Affairs, Hyundai Motor India; and Shri Dipankar Ghosh, Partner & Leader, Sustainability & ESG, Business Advisory Services, BDO India.
