Tata Power Delhi Distribution announced that it and the India Smart Grid Forum have signed a preliminary agreement for the "Vehicle-to-Grid Technology Demonstration Project."

According to a company statement, the initiative's objectives are to test EVs' viability as backup power sources during blackouts, investigate the effects of bi-directional charging, and investigate the potential of EVs to provide essential grid services like frequency and voltage support.

The purpose of the pilot project is to demonstrate the fundamentals of electric vehicle (EV) and grid interaction. The goal of this project is to lower carbon emissions in the energy and the project will also look into how electric vehicles (EVs) can be involved in the power market by storing electricity during off-peak hours and reselling it during peak hours.

Additionally, it will evaluate whether using green electricity to charge EVs is feasible.

"The project is a wonderful fit with our mission to advance renewable energy sources and develop a grid that is prepared for the future. Gajanan S. Kale, Chief Executive Officer of Tata Power-DDL, stated that "the project holds immense potential to revolutionise our power grid management and integrate EVs seamlessly."

According to Reji Kumar Pillai, President of ISGF, "the project will not only showcase the technical capabilities of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G), but it will also explore its commercial viability, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient future."

According to the statement, the University of Delaware in the United States is the V2G technology partner, and Tata Motors, the Central Electricity Authority, and the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission are observers of this demonstration project.

"We are coordinating with various project partners to ensure that V2G-compliant electric vehicles are introduced in India shortly, along with the issuance of relevant regulations," stated Pillai.
