Deloitte is fast-tracking its commitment to address sustainability and climate challenges with the inauguration of the Asia Pacific Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Sustainability and Climate in India. Leveraging extensive experience in client services related to sustainability and climate, the CoE aligns with Deloitte's global initiative to amass a vast network of expertise in sustainability, encompassing client services, data-driven research, and technology capabilities.

According to Viral Thakker, Partner and Sustainability Leader at Deloitte India, the newly formed Centre of Excellence (CoE) encourages innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration among experts.

The CoE will consolidate Deloitte's commitment to providing comprehensive solutions for the evolving global landscape. It will serve as a hub for diverse sustainability, climate, and ESG skills. The centre aims to catalyse innovative solutions and guide organisations towards a more sustainable future.

In a strategic move, Deloitte is establishing an Energy Chair Professorship under Soumitra Satapathi to foster collaboration and innovation in renewable energy. Knowledge sessions will be conducted per a mutually agreed-upon schedule.

To further strengthen its ties with academia, Deloitte has partnered with IIT Roorkee to bridge the gap between industry and academia. This collaboration aims to curate relevant research, develop targeted courses, and enhance skillset development.

Thakker highlighted, "The collaboration with IIT Roorkee will play a strategic role in fostering interdisciplinary coordination, nurturing talent, and advancing research initiatives to address challenges posed by climate change and social inequity."

While the CoE is headquartered in India, it will extend support to clients and organisations across the Asia-Pacific region, including India. For Indian organisations, one solution will be BRSR Core-related data, analyses, and disclosure services.
