The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in the southern region will be focusing on nine tracks to facilitate the transformation of South India by 2047, as mentioned by CII southern region chairman Kamal Bali.

During the inauguration of a new office of the CII, Bali outlined the region's emphasis on key factors that would stimulate the economic growth of the southern states. The theme for 2023–24, titled 'Transformation through Competitiveness, Growth, Sustainability, Trust, and Globalisation', signifies the CII's strategic direction for the year, as per a CII release.

The CII's nine-track plan encompasses initiatives such as 'people and culture rejuvenation,' 'holistic sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG),' 'tech adoption and digital transformation,' 'embracing energy transition, innovation and startup ecosystems,''manufacturing excellence,' 'partnerships and collaborations,' ‘MSMEs’, ‘brand building', and'sectoral promotion'.

Bali highlighted that the CII will collaborate closely with state governments to formulate manufacturing and industry-specific policies. Additionally, the CII plans to establish state-level task forces focused on digital transformation to aid industries in their digitalisation efforts.

Furthermore, the CII aims to support and guide 2,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in understanding various aspects of competitiveness through collaboration with CII centres of excellence.

With the inauguration of a new office in Mangaluru, Bali mentioned that the CII's office network in South India has expanded to 17 offices. The organisation will extend its services to members and other stakeholders, with a specific focus on MSME development in the Mangaluru region.

Vijaykrishnan Venkatesan, CII Karnataka Chairman, highlighted that the network expansion in Karnataka will allow CII to better serve its members at the grassroots level.
