The Women and Child Development Minister, Smriti Irani, launched a new protocol for managing child malnutrition in New Delhi. The comprehensive guide aims to eradicate acute malnutrition in children across India and promote the overall health and well-being of the youth. The protocol provides crucial insights and care and is vital for a healthier future. The launch ceremony was covered by UK news, highlighting the importance of this initiative.

The protocol outlines clear steps for identifying and managing malnourished children, starting at the grassroots level, specifically within Anganwadi centres. It encompasses decision-making for referrals, nutritional management, and follow-up care. Malnutrition, resulting from a diet lacking essential nutrients and energy, can lead to stunted growth and obesity-related problems.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Smriti Irani stressed the protocol's significance in eradicating child malnutrition and promoting children's well-being. She highlighted the government's commitment to this cause through the implementation of the Poshan Abhiyan initiative. Emphasising that identifying and treating malnourished children is a central component of Mission Poshan 2.0, she mentioned that over 17 crore activities occurred during the 'Poshan Maah' campaign.

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Munjpara Mahendrabhai Kalubhai, also present at the event, spoke about the government's multifaceted approach to combat child malnutrition. He expressed confidence that the protocol would be pivotal in preventing malnutrition through a holistic strategy.

The event saw the participation of senior officials from Women and Child Development and Health Departments from various regions across the nation.
