Frans Timmermans, the European Commission's climate policy leader, will arrive in India on May 25 for a two-day critical diplomatic mission to examine the latest developments at the national level on carbon reductions and sustainable energy transition. 

Environmental protection and the next United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai will also be discussed. The Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal will meet with Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy Raj Kumar Singh, Minister of Coal Prahlad Joshi, and Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, according to a statement from the European Union Delegation to India. 

These meetings are intended to enhance collaboration and to examine potential options for engagement between the European Union (EU) and India in addressing serious climate concerns. Timmermans will take part in a high-level round table discussion hosted by the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water, which will bring together national think tanks, civil society organisations, and corporate representatives to exchange ideas and plan a course towards sustainable energy solutions.He will also deliver the keynote address at the Confederation of Indian Industry's Annual Session 2023.
